Go Green

An Environmentally Friendly Approach to Pest Management

Dewey is committed to providing the best pest management by the most economical means, and with the least possible hazard to people, property, and the environment.

We have been utilizing IPM since Rod & Lynn Dewey started the business in 1991. Dewey’s business model is based on being as friendly to the earth as possible while delivering a complete and effective line of pest management and wildlife services. As the eco-friendly (green) movement gains momentum there are more products being developed in this area. We continually try new methods and products to ensure that we are providing the best possible solution available on the market.

We recognize that reducing the impact of our services and operations is important.

Below are some of the steps we have taken to reduce our ecological footprint:

  • We utilize Route Mapping Technology when scheduling to ensure the most efficient route, using less gas
  • Our technicians use Handheld computers to not only reduce paper, but to enhance productivity
  • Recycle paper, cardboard, glass, printer cartridges, and plastics
  • Replaced outdated office equipment with new models to maximize energy efficiency
  • Offer Online Customer Access to reduce paper usage
  • Installed low-flow toilets to reduce water consumption
  • Installed a water filter to eliminating the need for bottled water
  • Stocked the kitchen with reusable items such as utensils, cups, mugs, and dishes

Green Pest Program

With rising concerns about safety, health and the environment we at Dewey Pest & Wildlife are proud to offer a “green” residential pest service. While both our traditional program and green program utilize IPM the green plans use organic, plant based, materials or materials of a natural origin. Fortunately a large variety of products exist that provide highly effective means of controlling pests using “green” and/or “natural products”. Some are biological materials such as plant extracts and diatomaceous earth, while others may be ground stone dusts.

Commonly Asked Questions:

Why is your Green Program more expensive than your Traditional Program?
Green products are less toxic than traditional pest control chemicals and take more time and expertise to apply. Exclusion and structural modifications are a large part of the green program which can be labor intensive.

Is it Organic?
The active ingredients in the products are derived from organic, naturally occurring sources.

Is it as effective as the “traditional treatments”?
The Green Program can be just as effective as the traditional program if all the structural modifications and repairs and advice of the Dewey technician are followed.

What is the difference between the Green and Traditional Home Owner Program?
Our green plan follows the IPM foundation just like our traditional plan, but with the exception of which pesticides are applied. The green plan uses naturally occurring and low risk materials as the primary pest management.
